Orbit: A Cycle Of Poems
Orbit was created for my sophomore milestone project, a self-directed project that I created over a semester and then presented to a faculty panel. I illustrated a cycle of five poems I had written about space travel. I have always been fascinated by stars and space, but human space exploration in particular catches my imagination. I’m awed by the enormous collaboration it takes, the boldness of astronauts who brave the risks of spaceflight, and the stories that come out of it. As I developed the imagery for the poems, I found another story within them, about a relationship between someone who left and someone who waited for them to return. The final result was a fifty-page digital book that tells one overarching narrative through the combination of poems and illustrations.
